Toxic Shame Series

Toxic shame is passed to us through intergenerational trauma, traumatic experiences during childhood, and shaming styles of parenting. It is interpreted by the body as a threat. When we are triggered into our shame response the body is catapulted into a fight, flight, freeze or fawn reaction. This series of four classes shows how it is possible, using embodied techniques and yoga practices, to recognise the state of shame when it arises in the body, and to bring the nervous system back to a state of rest and relaxation. Becoming familiar with how shame influences you into rage, withdrawal and isolation, self-judgment, self-harming behaviours, and hiding and avoidance behaviours is an important component of building shame resilience. The techniques taught in this series assist in building this state of resilience and release the power hold of shame.
